ELLE UZBEKISTAN

From Baghdad to Stockholm to Paris

In the latest issue of ELLE Uzbekistan, our founder Susan Szatmáry’s shares her design journey — from early days in her mother’s ceramic studio to formative years working alongside Alexander McQueen in London.

A conversation about process, inspiration, and what it means to build something lasting.

On craftsmanship, Susan notes:
“People are beginning to appreciate details again — strong seams, woven textures, metal accents. It takes me back to when I first learned the craft from the ground up.”

On her view of trends, she reflects:
“I see trends as a reflection of the times. But I don’t chase them — my focus is always on refining my own voice. Sometimes that aligns with trends, sometimes it doesn’t.”

With reflections on sustainability, a calm creative process, and the timeless influence of Art Deco.
